Haydock Placepot tips: Paul Kealy guides you through his Saturday staking plans
Haydock makes far more appeal for Placepot purposes than Musselburgh, which starts with a four-runner two-year-old race, but it's not going to be easy.
The lightly raced Emmpressive Lady could still have more to come in the first (1.00), but probably doesn't need to improve much given the only mare to have beaten her in her last three starts is now rated 17lb higher.
She's had a break, though, and could be vulnerable, so we'll add the consistent Gazette Bourgeoise for back-up.
Five Star Getaway is up 26lb for winning his last two, but he has done so in the style of a horse with plenty more to come. While he is going to find things hard from now on, I make him banker material in leg two (1.30).
If there were eight runners in the next (2.05), then I'd bank on Chti Balko, but seven makes it difficult. I'm far from convinced the front two in the betting are that well treated, though, so Dino Velvet is the other choice.
I like the chances of outsider Versatility in leg four (2.40), but Debece looks a solid enough proposition at the head of the market. Hopefully one of those two will get the job done.
Leg five (3.15) is just about the hardest of all the races, but I'd be expecting plenty of improvement from Outonpatrol with last month's return from a break under her belt. Supakalanistic has been very consistent and should be on the premises again, while Iwilldoit has more to come on only his third start this season.
The Bay Birch was firmly put in her place by a horse who looked ridiculously well treated at Leicester last time, but she is still the class act in the context of this race. I'll be surprised if she is out of the frame in the lucky last (3.50).
