Who would have thought that Toscanini would be able to add 'battler' to the list of attributes on his CV? But that is exactly what he did yesterday when sticking his neck out and grinding out victory in the Phoenix Sprint Stakes at the Curragh.

Having been a member of the Toscanini fan club from the start and convinced that Air Force Blue was still a pale shadow of the horse we saw last year, it made for very pleasant viewing indeed.

It will also make for very pleasant viewing if Walkabout can land the 2m1f handicap hurdle (7.10) at Ballinrobe this evening.
