Harrington filly to find winning formula? It's not Rocket Science

Trainer: Michael Halford
5th, 7f two-year-old maiden, Dundalk, October 30
Michael Halford has some nice late-season Aga Khan juveniles who look set to win their maidens either late this year or early next year, a couple of which have been highlighted in this column, and this is another.

This maiden won by the potentially exciting Vatican City is likely to produce its share of winners. The Siyouni colt raced in mid-division, saw plenty of daylight towards the outer, and while he was a bit slow to pick up, he did stay on to decent effect from two furlongs out and he was strong at the finish.

He has a clear middle-distance pedigree, suggesting this trip was an inadequate test. It would be no surprise to see him go close in a mile maiden before the end of the year here, and he should improve again for trips between 1m2f to 1m4f in 2020.

Power Ahead
Andrew Slattery
6th, 5f two-year-old maiden, Dundalk, November 1
Sprint maidens for juveniles are a relative rarity at this time of year and chances are this contest had a bit of quality about it. The winning debutant Corrienthes certainly looked above average and hopefully his trainer John McConnell will be given the chance to further improve him.
