The false rail was removed, revealing fresh ground and producing a strong draw bias.

However, no-one told Gerald Mosse, who took front-runner GREY BRITAIN off the golden highway and down the middle of the track in the opening 1m2f handicap. He finished a close-up fourth behind three runners who stayed far side.
