Phantom Flight has been brought along slowly by up-and-coming trainer James Horton and has improved his Racing Post Rating with every race.

He suffered his only defeat since his debut when third behind New London at Newmarket in July and was unlucky not to give the winner a race that day as he didn’t get a clear run for much of it.

New London has since won a Group 3 at Goodwood before going on to take second to Eldar Eldarov in the St Leger last weekend and Phantom Flight has the potential to make his mark in Group company in time.

He confirmed that impression when landing a traditionally strong York handicap at the Ebor meeting by five lengths on his latest start and he can take this Listed race en route to better things.
