Graeme Rodway turns his attention to the Placepot at Southwell

The Flat action at Southwell might prove the best for a Placepot, so concentrate on the Nottinghamshire venue.

The opening mile handicap (4.15) looks like a good opportunity for Blue Hero. He proved his stamina for the trip when second at Wolverhampton recently and wears first-time cheekpieces.

Daafy ran well on his first start at this track over a mile last time and should go well in the 7f handicap (4.45). Al Batal might prove the most solid alternative.

Samovar has been in good form at this track recently and is the most likely winner of the 6f handicap (5.15) if he turns up again after winning here on Thursday. Put Katheefa in as well, just in case he doesn't.

The 2m½f handicap (5.45) is a tough race. Irish Minister wasn’t disgraced over 1m6f at this track in November and can be included alongside course-and-distance winner Artistic Streak.

Course form could prove key in the 6f novice (6.15) and Kevin The Minion has the best of that, while in the 1m6f handicap (6.45), Amourie is taken ahead of likely favourite Heron.
