Graeme Rodway is looking for soft-ground specialists in Chepstow Placepot

The going looks set to be testing at Chepstow and mudlarks are the key to the Placepot.

Seelotmorebusiness will be popular in the opener (12.30), but Smurphy Enki has proven soft-ground form in bumpers and might be the safer selection for the in-form Chris Gordon.

Tom Symonds has his string going well so take a chance on Mr Washington in division one of the 2m3½f handicap hurdle (1.00). Spirit Of Rome looks the most solid alternative.

Division two (1.30) looks a trickier event. Darsi Rose has some form on testing ground and should be included along with Thedancingman on his second run for Johnny Farrelly.

Cyclop is one of my best bets of the day in the conditional jockeys' handicap chase (2.05), but it's a wide-open race so it might also be worth including Shanty Alley.

Martha Brae handles testing conditions and is taken to win the 2m7½f mares' handicap hurdle (2.40) along with Royal Claret. She is a strong stayer who should act on the ground.

Financier makes the most appeal in the last leg, the 2m novice handicap chase (3.10).
