Gold Cup flop looks a big price to bounce back at Punchestown

Outlander was a notable disappointment in the Gold Cup, but that wasn't a huge surprise, as he was taking his form figures at the meeting to 6FO and, for whatever reason, Cheltenham in March just doesn't seem to agree with him.

However, it's unlikely he's done yet for the season with Gordon Elliott chasing the trainers' title and plenty of prize-money on offer at the Punchestown festival, and it is there that Outlander is interesting.

He does have an entry in the Irish National, but top weight in that allied to a trip he has never run over before must make that an unlikely next destination. Much more probable a target would be the Punchestown Gold Cup, and the 16-1 with Corals is tempting.
