Front-runners cause mayhem by folding late on

Newcastle's long straight on the Tapeta led to some in-running pain for punters on Tuesday, with front-runners failing to last home.

In division one of the 1m2f apprentice handicap, Highway Robber and Lord Rob had been battling each other in front, hitting lows of 1.37 and 2.8 on Betfair respectively.

But Exclusive Waters ridden by Lewis Edmunds, who has been catching the eye in the saddle, bided his time to get on top inside the final furlong, and rewarded those who took the high of 9.2.
