Took a big step forward on handicap debut in June when impressing at Goodwood. Seems sure to go close if tuned up after a break from action.

Newmarket nap

Alternative Fact (2.15 Newmarket)

Shaped as if this trip would suit when ninth in the Cambridgeshire last time and has since worked well on the Al Bahathri.
David Milnes

Eyecatcher

Minhaaj (1.40 Newmarket)

Represents a powerful team and and she's bred to get further. Did some strong late work, shaping as though she'd take plenty of stopping if faced with a stiffer test when second on debut.

Irish angle

Daylight Katie (1.10 Down Royal)

Toyed with ordinary opposition when scoring by 26 lengths on hurdling debut at Fairyhouse last month. This race will be tougher but she can follow up under Davy Russell.
Tony O'Hehir

Speed figures

Be Proud (5.25 Newcastle)

His two best efforts on the clock have been over course and distance, and he romped home here in September. Touched off last time but compensation looks on the cards.
Dave Edwards

Spotlights nap

Kinross (6.00 Newcastle)

Well-bred colt who ran to a high level of form for a newcomer when blitzing rivals in useful novice at Newmarket last month. Strong at the finish there and likely to be well suited by a mile. That impressive and highly promising debut means this colt is worth close consideration.

Dark horse

First Flow (2.40 Uttoxeter)

Grade 2 winner as a novice hurdler who was only seen once last season when fifth in the Imperial Cup. Makes chasing debut in this race and it would not be a surprise to see him run well.
Rob Sutton

Must-have stat of the day

Aristo Du Plessis has form figures of 1F1151 when running in hurdle races at Wetherby (+£11.70 to £1 level stakes). The nine-year-old returns to the course for the first time since winning there in December 2018 and is now rated 8lb lower.
