Handicappers' nap

Mubhij (7.45 Chelmsford)

Disappointed at Ascot last time but posted a career best when winning at Newcastle over 7f previously. Good chance he can pick up the progress now up to a mile and back on the all-weather.

Newmarket nap

Ghaly (3.05 Nottingham)

No fluke about the Saeed bin Suroor-trained chestnut's second at Chelmsford last time. The three-year-old is well drawn and has since moved well on Warren Hill.
David Milnes

Eyecatcher

Baba Ghanouj (2.25 Newbury)

The one to take from the race at Newmarket last time as she was unsuited by the steady pace, yet still nearly got up for second. The cards could fall more favourably for her in this bigger field.

Irish Angle

Buckhurst (6.45 Curragh)

Confirmed his promise with a decisive course-and-distance win here on Irish Derby weekend. Remains unexposed and could have it within his armoury to expose the returning Sir Dragonet.
Richard Forristal

Ace Tipster

Key Victory (7.45 Chelmsford)

Group-level talent who has shown glimmers of promise in top handicaps this year. Now gets his first chance this season at a slightly more everyday level.
Keith Melrose

Speed Figures

Han Solo Berger (5.50 Newmarket)

Has finished second three times recently over the minimum trip and the return to 6f may enable him to deservedly open his account for the year.
Dave Edwards

Spotlight nap

Valentino Sunrise (2.35 Nottingham)

Gradually edged down to a workable mark and drops in grade after a good second at Doncaster four weeks ago. Nicely equipped to cope with slow ground.
Chris Wilson

Dark horse

Blue De Vega (7.10 Chelmsford)

Yet to win this season but was an excellent third in the Dash at Epsom. Last run at Goodwood can be excused and looks interesting back down in trip and grade.
Rob Sutton

Must-have stat of the day

Start Time has figures of 10311 at Thirsk, improving to 111 when running in Class 4-5 events over 7f+ (+£15.50 to £1 level stakes). He runs in the mile handicap (7.30).
