Friday fancies: our experts provide their best bets on Oaks day

Handicappers' nap

Brother McGonagall (6.00 Doncaster)

Not shown much in two starts this year but entitled to come on for those runs and well treated on pick of last season's form. Return to a mile should help.
Sam Walker

Newmarket Nap

Assembled (6.30 Doncaster)

Hugo Palmer's grey ran a great debut at Wetherby this month and blew out well for this on the Warren Hill turf canter on Thursday.
David Milnes

Eyecatcher

Rux Ruxx (4.10 Wolverhampton)

Shaped encouragingly off a 214-day break from off the pace. Return to 7f should suit.
Raceform

Our analysts from Raceform find eyecatchers at all meetings in the UK and Ireland, every day. Essential subscribers can read their expert view on every race

Ace Tipster

Salouen (3.10 Epsom)

Has run well at this track before, only narrowly beaten in this a year ago and impressive at Ascot last time out.
Paul Kealy

Irish Angle

Lyrical Attraction (7.55 Down Royal)

Has been in good form of late, winning two of her last three starts. An easy winner at Cork nine days ago, she was raised 10lb for that effort but might still be ahead of the handicapper.
Tony O'Hehir

Speed Figures

Navigate By Stars (8.30 Doncaster)

Posted an improved speed figure when opening her account at Pontefract recently, invariably a positive pointer, and despite topweight can complete a quick double.
Dave Edwards

Spotlights nap

Mehdaayih (4.30 Epsom)

Laid down a strong marker when winning the Cheshire Oaks and she is taken to repeat the dashing brilliance she showed off the home bend that day.
Emily Weber

Dark horse

Manuela De Vega (4.30 Epsom)

Impressed in two outings last season and made a pleasing reappearance in the Cheshire Oaks when conceding 3lb to the field. Travelled sweetly throughout that contest before getting caught in a pocket as the winner quickened and entitled to improve for the run.
Olly Eden

Must-have stat of the day

Since the start of 2014, Roger Varian is five from 12 (42 per cent, +£11 from a £1 stake) with handicappers at Epsom who were four or older. He has two wins from three runners in the 3.45, and is represented in that race by Mountain Angel, who won on his only run at the track.
