2pts winI'm never going to be an expert on pedigrees, but it was interesting to see the reaction to the Qipco 1,000 and 2,000 Guineas in the ante-post markets for the Investec Oaks and Derby over the weekend.

Winter, impressive on Sunday even allowing for Rhododendron's troubled run, is seemingly not even being considered for the Oaks, with trainer Aidan O'Brien saying he thinks she'll get 1m2f when they need her to.

By Galileo out of Wokingham winner Laddies Poker Two, Winter looks every inch a miler at the moment and while she was cut to a top priced 10-1 for the Oaks, it was her much more stoutly-bred stablemate Rhododendron who was the big shortener, probably rightly so.
