Kempton Placepot tips: Phill Anderson's selections for the £50,000 guaranteed pool

Godwinson (6.00) sets a useful standard in the opener having already achieved an RPR of 95 for his win at Hamilton and he will be hard to kick out the frame.

The first division of the 7f novice stakes (6.30) looks tougher. Quatre Bras showed plenty on debut and had an excuse when tailed off in a Group 2 second time out. Charlie Appleby’s Classic Encounter is easily the most interesting of the newcomers.

Another well-bred Appleby newcomer is Important Role, who is hard to leave out of the perm in the second division of the maiden (7.00). Tasmanian Legend didn’t handle soft ground last time but could take to the all-weather surface at Kempton.

The nursery looks the toughest leg on the night (7.30). Via Electriano may show a bit more back on an all-weather surface and Mr Baloo shaped as if he would relish a step back up in trip last time.

The fillies’ novice (8.00) looks more straightforward. Let Life Happen has been beaten less than a length in both starts so far, including on debut at Kempton. Mistressofillusion may be the one to beat stepping up in trip for the in-form Ralph Beckett yard.

Supaspecialawesome looks a big player back on all-weather in the final leg (8.30) and could be hard to catch from the inside draw. Okami is the main threat stepping up in trip after his win on the all-weather last month. They’re both worthy of inclusion.
