John Moore has a couple of aces lined up on the all-weather track at Sha Tin as he continues in his relentless attempt to overhaul champion John Size in their ongoing battle for the trainers' title.
It is unusual to see a Monday meeting, but this fixture comes on a public holiday marking the establishment of Hong Kong as a special administrative region of China following the British handover in 1997.
Moore saddles two talented dirt performers, who were both fancied but beaten into second place in their respective races at Sha Tin on June 12, yet each could go one better this time round.
Touch Of Luck is tipped to take the Class 4 1m½f handicap (8.00) following a pleasing second when running on well from back in the field on his most recent start. He failed by only a neck to catch the winner and could be even better placed from stall eight.
Zac Purton, who retains the ride on Touch Of Luck, will also be aboard the other Moore-trained special bet on the card, Buddies, a son of So You Think showing plenty of promise in his races and who has a fine chance in the Class 3 1m½f handicap (8.30).
His previous second came about after he was forced to contend with a wide draw of 14. After being prominent throughout, he battled solidly to the line, and is now poised to bounce back to the winner's enclosure.
Another horse of interest at this intriguing meeting is King Of Hearts, a one-time runner-up in Royal Ascot's Jersey Stakes for William Haggas, who can break through for Tony Cruz in the Class 3 6f sprint (9.40), one of seven turf races on this mixed card.
He finally showed a glimpse of form on his most recent outing, flying home late. This will suit right down to the ground.
