Fontwell Placepot tips: Graeme Rodway with a small perm on National Spirit day

The winner will be required in three of the six Placepot races at Fontwell, so it’s a bit more like a Jackpot. However, any surprises could mean that it ends up paying a tidy dividend.

I don’t expect there to be any upset in the opening 2m3½f novice handicap chase (1.50). Nassalam has been mixing it with some smart rivals this season and should outclass them.

Guguss Collonges looks a beatable favourite in the 2m5½f handicap chase (2.20) and preference is for Alkopop, who could go well in first-time headgear, and Graces Order.

The feature 2m3f National Spirit Hurdle (2.50) is an exciting race, but Brewin’upastorm should get the job done. He has been in superb form this season and is consistent as well.

The 2m3f novice hurdle (3.20) looks like a match between stablemates Jerrash and Make My Day. Jerrash will probably head the market, but it’s worth including both in case of an upset.

The 2m5½f handicap hurdle (3.50) is more competitive and Legal Rights is another Gary Moore-trained runner with a huge chance.

The 3m2f hunter chase (4.20) is another match between Jett and Shantou Flyer. Keep the perm down and take a chance on Jett taking this en route to the big festivals in the spring.
