Final jump misery for Nicholls pair

It looked a case of how far for Zarkandar (1.25) as he stalked Un Temps Pour Tout before the final flight of the 2m4f hurdle at Aintree, but he stood off too far, clipped the top and unseated Sean Bowen. Paul Nicholls suffered an unfortunate double, as Southfield Theatre also came to grief at the final fence in the Badger Ales Trophy at Wincanton after trading at 1.06.

There were only three runners in the novice chase at Aintree, but it provided plenty of entertainment. Wotzizname was backed down to 1.05 on Betfair, despite never really looking like shaking off lone pursuer Arpege d'Alene, who outstayed him to win readily.

After a protracted head-bobbing duel through the final furlong of the 6f Listed contest at Doncaster, Growl just got the better of Aeolus, who was matched at 1.25.
