Fast Eddie ready to celebrate another sprint winner at Naas
Did we see the speediest horse of the last decade finally slowing down at the Curragh last Saturday? Perhaps age is finally starting to catch up with nine-year-old Sole Power judging by his rather lacklustre effort behind Mecca's Angel in the Sapphire Stakes but there could be something for his trainer Eddie Lynam to smile about at Naas this evening as Fort Del Oro looks the best bet on the card in the Group 3 Yeomanstown Stud Dark Angel EBF Stakes (7.25).
Compared to Sole Power, Fort Del Oro is still unexposed as a sprinter and I am still convinced we have yet to see the best of her, despite the fact she has won three of her eights starts and been placed in three others. Soft ground was to blame for her tame Greenlands display in May.
Last time in the Ballyogan Stakes at the Curragh, Billy Lee was forced to make his challenge down the centre of the track on Fort Del Oro and proved no match for Divine close home, having traded short on the exchanges.
