Experienced filly can get the day off to a flyer with first win

Deposed champion Pat Smullen can start the final day of the 2017 turf campaign on a winning note with Betsey Trotter. Second in two maiden outings on either side of a Group 3 attempt, she has the best credentials of those who have run. The newcomers in the field are from stables not typically associated with first-time-out juvenile winners.

The combination of 5f and soft ground may not be ideal for several of the horses involved in the day's first handicap, but recent Navan winner Doonard Prince should be able to cope better than most despite his revised rating. Truffles, a front-running winner at Fairyhouse 12 days ago, should also feature. Accalia, a long way below her best in the race won by Truffles, has a chance if restored to form.

Still Standing left an impression that a step up in trip would suit when staying on for third in a 7f Leopardstown maiden. The Jessica Harrington-trained colt does not appears to have much to beat in the 1m maiden.
