Evening Angles: three runners to note based on Racing Post stats

Chelmsford race under lights on Thursday with the potential headline act
Chelmsford: racing this eveningCredit: Edward Whitaker

Using the Racing Post's unrivalled bank of stats, we pick out three horses to back tonight based on trainer form, RPRs and, tonight's wild card, a handicap debutant.

Trainer form

Jadeerah
7.35 Chelmsford
Angle: John Gosden has been operating at a 30 per cent strike-rate in the last fortnight

John Gosden saddles the brilliant Enable in the Coral-Eclipse at Sandown on Saturday but before that he runs a number of horses today.

A strike-rate of 30 per cent, 13 wins from 44 runners, shows the Newmarket trainer to be in excellent form and Jadeerah, a lightly raced daughter of Frankel, holds a realistic chance of adding to that score.

Ratings

Lola Paige
7.25 Haydock
Angle:clear best on Racing Post Ratings

This daughter of Galileo was an eyecatching second on her debut at Doncaster last month and a repeat of that effort would likely see her go close here.

Trained by William Haggas, she holds the highest RPR in the field of those with a run (93) and can put her previous experience to good use this evening.

Wild card

Guiding Spirit
8.00 Haydock
Angle: Clive Cox has a 20 per cent strike-rate with first-time geldings

Following three starts in novice company earlier this year, Guiding Spirit returns off the back of a gelding operation, a move trainer Clive Cox has a useful record with.

The three-year-old's best performance came when a respectable fourth at Kempton in February, but he finished down the field behind Fox Champion at Doncaster in March.

Cox also operates at a 15 per cent strike-rate with handicap debutants, and this lightly raced runner could have more to offer entering handicap company for the first time tonight.
