Evening Angles: three runners to note based on Racing Post stats

Credit: Edward Whitaker

Using the Racing Post's unrivalled bank of stats, we pick out three horses to consider tonight based on trainer form, RPRs and, tonight's wild card, a trainer with a great record with juvenile debutants at Nottingham . . .

Trainer form

Dutch Coed
7.30 Carlisle
Angle: Nigel Tinkler in hot form

Nigel Tinkler has been operating at a 25 per cent strike-rate in the past fortnight with eight winners from 32 runners.

Dutch Coed returned to winning ways at Beverley last month and a 3lb rise may not be enough to stop him scoring again.

The seven-year-old is lightly raced for his age and a good gallop will suit this hold-up performer with Rowan Scott on board.

Ratings

Ventura Secret
6.00 Carlisle
Angle: joint-top on RPRs

The Michael Dods-trained Ventura Secret has finished second on his last two starts and Racing Post Ratings suggest he could go one better this evening.

He is joint top-rated with a mark of 80 on RPRs and comes out best at the weights.

Paula Muir's mount bumped into the in-form Caustic Love last time and is unlikely to find a rival of that calibre in this 6f apprentice handicap.

Wild card

What Is Life
6.10 Nottingham
Angle: Richard Fahey's debutant record at the track

Richard Fahey boasts a 33 per cent strike-rate with two-year-old newcomers at Nottingham, with seven winners from 21 runners.

Ridden by David Nolan, What Is Life makes her debut in the 5f fillies' novice stakes having cost 70,000gns at the Tattersalls Book 2 sale last year. She comes up against a rival with significant experience in the thrice-raced Exclusively, who won on debut in April.
