Elliott could be the key to landing the Sunday pot

Tramore conclude their four-day August festival with an all-jumping card and a decent mix of contests in which the performance of Gordon Elliott's charges could make the difference.

A maiden hurdle over 2m5f (2.20) opens proceedings and there are few standouts in the race without being able to discount many of them. Static Jack comes from a stable already amongst the winners here this week and will be hard to beat if reproducing his run at Cork two weeks ago. The one to put in with him could well be Smitty Bacall, who is making his hurdling debut but did win his bumper from a subsequent winner here in June and is sure to be well schooled. The second of the maiden hurdles (2.50) looks altogether more straightforward, and if managing a clear round, the Elliott-trained Antiphony looks worthy banker material.

The 2m handicap hurdle (3.20) is one of the most competitive handicaps of the day. With the benefit of Ruby Walsh in the saddle and with very solid efforts in handicaps over hurdles and on the Flat coming into this, My Manekineko has to be on the list. There are at least two course specialists in the field against him, preference is for top-weight Coolfighter after his win here on Thursday. The 80-95 rated 2m handicap hurdle (3.55) is even trickier. The veteran Venture Lazarus could go close if reproducing his previous second at Wexford, while the Elliott-trained Steady Major produced a somewhat improved effort at Perth last time and could be a progressive sort in this type of contest.
