Ease in ground can spark handicapper back to life

There's little doubt Eddystone Rock hasn't been at his best this season, but there's also little doubt he is the best handicapped horse in the race if he does come back to it and, given the rain around, there is hope he will.

He almost certainly didn't like racing on snow at St Moritz in February, but his fifth of 15 in a hot Newmarket handicap in May proved his best ever effort on fast ground and he has probably been sick of running on quick surfaces ever since.
