The loss of the cross country chase from day one of the Open meeting at Cheltenham will have disappointed a few, but surely no-one is complaining about the replacement being the Glenfarclas Veterans' Handicap Chase (12.55).

Veterans' chases have been a real success story over the years as they give the older generation a chance to compete in races that won't feature up-and-comers with tons of potential to improve their handicap marks.

However, while we often associate this type of race with horses whose best form is ancient, that is far from always the case and in this contest there are a couple of horses whose career-best efforts are pretty recent.
