Drop in trip could be just what well-treated chaser needs

No. 5
Amoola Gold
1.15 Newbury
1pt win at 5-1 generallyAmoola Gold largely jumped and travelled like a well-handicapped horse on his return to action over 2m4f here in November and it was no disgrace being beaten under three lengths.

However, he hadn't looked a stayer at the trip in a maiden hurdle the previous season and his stamina was found out in a stronger-run race on deeper ground (official going was same for both races, but that's nonsense) at Aintree and this drop back to 2m is surely just what he wants.

Apart from a mistake at the cross fence, Amoola Gold handled these fences really well last month and if he does so again he should go close. He is only 7lb higher than when beating Brelan D'As at Hereford last season and that one is much higher now.
