David Baxter with his best two-year-old bet at Yarmouth on Wednesday
The Lir Jet
1.55 Yarmouth
1pt win
When Michael Bell has juvenile runners at Yarmouth they are generally worth paying attention to, and The Lir Jet could be another winner for the trainer at the seaside track.
The colt has a speedy, precocious pedigree, with sire Prince Of Lir winning his first two starts at two; the Brian Yeardley at Beverley and the Norfolk Stakes at Royal Ascot.
In the last five seasons Bell has had eight two-year-old winners from 44 runners (18 per cent strike-rate), but that jumped to 33 per cent (four from 12) in 2019.
The booking of Silvestre de Sousa also catches the eye, with the jockey partnering three juvenile winners from 13 rides (23 per cent) in the last three seasons. A lot appears in The Lir Jet's favour for his debut.
