David Baxter with his best two-year-old bet at Kempton on Tuesday
Golden Bear
2.45 Kempton
0.5pt each-way
With no form to go on, finding clues on which two-year-olds could be ready straight away is tricky, but Golden Bear has a few things in his favour that piqued my interest.
His pedigree is nice and sharp, and he is a brother to juvenile winners Mutawaffer and Harswell. Further encouragement can be taken from the dam's side, as Golden Flower won at two, and her sister, Habaayib, was also a very effective sprinter as a juvenile.
Trainer Charlie Fellowes only nominated one horse for the BHA's list of two-year-olds that should be exempt from elimination in heavily subscribed races, and that was Golden Bear.
For his debut, Golden Bear has a decent draw in two, and while favourite Science definitely looks the part on paper, I'm happy to try and find a bit of value to begin the season.
