David Baxter with his best two-year-old bet at Haydock on Thursday
Grey Sparkle
1.15 Haydock
0.5pt each-way
Grey Sparkle was considered good enough to be started off at Newmarket in a race that was used as a launchpad for Royal Ascot by a lot of the runners.
A trip to the royal meeting was swerved by connections of Grey Sparkle, as she was too green to do herself justice. Having been stuck on the outside of the field, her inexperience showed, though she was still on the premises as the field went into the Dip.
Although she finished ninth, Grey Sparkle was not disgraced, and should have learnt plenty for the experience. This race could be quite hot despite the fact there is likely to be just seven runners, but the hope is that she has come on plenty from her debut.
