Court lands gamble in first-time headgear

>>Court King landed a gamble in the 2m7½f handicap hurdle at Uttoxeter after being backed to 5-1 joint-favourite from an opening 8-1. The winner, who wore a first-time hood, took Peter Bowen’s strike-rate with runners in first-time headgear to 22 per cent (2-9) since 2015.

>>Quebec hit 1.08 in running on Betfair in the second division of the 2m4f handicap hurdle, but the 7-1 chance was caught by 7-4 favourite Vic’s Last Stand, who went no shorter than 1.04.

>>Duchess Andorra landed a big gamble in the 1m1½f Group 3 at Gowran Park, going off 16-1 from an opening 28-1. Johnny Murtagh’s winner touched 95.
