The eight-year-old has recorded all five wins in a 45-race career over the course and distance, the most recent when competing off a mark of 66 in the corresponding event 12 months ago. Never really at his best through the remainder of 2016, he has dropped in the ratings and seems to have found an appropriate level again.

A fourth placing over five furlongs in the middle of last month proved that he is returning to form, and he confirmed that when he went desperately close against the well-fancied Oor Jock over 6f two weeks ago.
