Count on Gordon's Mio to land the finale at Lingfield

Chris Gordon: hoping to take centre stage at Plumpton once again
Chris Gordon: runs Vicenzo Mio at Lingfield

Lingfield

Touch Screen (2.00) has produced two of his best efforts at this track and looks sure to go well again in the 2m4f novice handicap chase.

Mark Gillard’s seven-year-old was second here in March and had little trouble going one better over this course and distance two weeks ago, pulling six lengths clear on the run-in. The forecast soft ground would be perfect and his pedigree suggests he has the potential to be better than this grade.

Full Irish (3.00) has finished down the field in his last two starts, but they were a valuable handicap hurdle at Sandown in March and a recent novice chase at Warwick when facing superior rivals over an inadequate 2m.

He has always shaped as though this sort of test would be ideal, so it would be no surprise to see a much better effort from Emma Lavelle’s charge in the 2m7½f handicap chase.

Vicenzo Mio (3.30) never quite lived up to early expectations when trained by Paul Nicholls, but he has slipped to a career-low mark and ran better than the final result when making his debut for new connections at Sandown last time out. The seven-year-old led for much of the way and only faded on the final climb.

Sedgefield

Bollin Line (3.20) has discovered the winning habit in recent weeks and may be able to make it four in a row here.

Lucinda Egerton’s ten-year-old came from an unpromising position to win a handicap hurdle here at the beginning of November and quickly rattled off two more victories, completing the hat-trick at Ludlow last time out.

With his chase mark unaffected, he can race off a 5lb lower mark than he defied that time and shouldn’t be inconvenienced by the return to chasing.

Robbing The Prey (2.20) has raced nine times without success so far, but the switch to fences sparked a career-best over course and distance last time out.

The Malcolm Jefferson inmate jumped well that day and was denied only narrowly in a tight finish.

He was entitled to need that outing after a nine-month break and even minimal improvement should see him go one better.

Southwell

Swift Cedar(12.10) has won on three of his six previous visits here and may add another success in the opener.

David Evans’ seven-year-old lost his way after landing a 1m3f handicap here in March, but he has slipped down the weights and suggested he would soon be taking advantage when third at Leicester last time out.

That form looks good following subsequent wins from runner-up Entangling and fourth-placed Rayaa.
