Although the form of his yard is a slight concern – it’s over two weeks since it had a runner placed – Ballydine has a fairly appealing profile in the Randox Health Becher Handicap Chase.

Lightly raced over fences, the furthest he’s been beaten when completing is ten lengths, which is not to be sniffed at, and the time he was pulled up was forgivable as it came over 4m2f on heavy ground in last season’s Scottish National.

He races off a lower mark than when placed in last season’s Peter Marsh at Haydock and all three of his wins have come on soft ground. He remains a potential improver off a rating of 139.
