Conditions look just right for this unexposed Scottish Grand National runner

Soldier Of Love
3.35 Ayr
Buy at 9 on the index

Prior to the current season, Soldier Of Love had made the track only eight times. He won his first four runs between July and September last year, beating Coole Cody on the final occasion, and then ran into Galvin at Cheltenham.

It is clear that he is both unexposed and more than just a summer pot-hunter. He does reportedly need the ground to be fairly quick, he flopped when last seen in November and was pulled out of the National Hunt Chase because of the threat of soft ground. The Scottish Grand National seems right up his street in terms of conditions. As well as being a top-of-the-ground horse, Soldier Of Love seems sure to stay well.

This year's Scottish National does not look the most competitive race of its type, and even if you do not fully get behind the strength of Soldier Of Love's form, his general profile means that he is very likely to hit the frame if giving his running.

As he can be bought at 9 on the index, anything in the first four will guarantee a profit for his supporters. His consistency through the summer means that he edges it as a spread bet over The Ferry Master, the other one in the race that I fancy to go well.
