In a thrilling finish to the Chester Cup, Montaly forced his head in front in the final strides after trading at 340 on Betfair. Runner-up Yorkidding was backed at 1.2.

The long odds-on Brillare Momento was backed at a low-looking 1.1 in the 2m5f novice hurdle at Newton Abbot. She could never get on terms with winner Momella, who was done at 40.
