Elgin earned the best speed figures on the card when scooping a valuable Ascot handicap three weeks ago and can follow up in the Unibet Greatwood Hurdle (3.00) at Cheltenham.

Alan King’s progressive five-year-old dug deep to land the spoils and such an attribute will always stand him in good stead.

His participation will not be confirmed until nearer the time, but if in the line-up he would warrant the utmost respect.
