Cheltenham Placepot picks: Paul Kealy has a select perm for day one

I'm not convinced the Cheltenham card is likely to produce a big Tote Placepot payout – or if it does I won't be winning it! So the perm is going to be small on day one of the November meeting.

is potentially very well treated in the opener (1.10) and, as a prominent racer likely to stay out of trouble, he's going to be hard to kick out of the first four.

I'm going to bank on him to keep the perm down and it's a similar story in the next as I think (1.45) will take a fair bit of beating.

Daft as it may seem, I'm not so keen to bank on in leg three (2.20). We need the winner here and, although he's the best horse on hurdles form, he's going to have to get it right on his debut against a mare, , with plenty of experience and a good level of form.

and cross-country specialist , now with Richard Bandey, are my two for the next (2.55), while the turn of foot showed at Aintree should get him in the first two in leg five (3.30).

That just leaves the 20-runner closer (4.00) and I'll be going with two again, starting with the consistent . The promising is the other selection in what is obviously a tricky race.
