Cheltenham Placepot picks: Paul Kealy has a crack at the track's jumps opener

The Cheltenham Placepot will take some getting if the fields hold up, but with Tote's £250,000 Placepot guarantee the rewards should be worth it for those who get through.

I'll be going with three in the opener (1.35). is the main selection, and is joined by , who has such a good record at the track, and No Trouble, whose trainer John McConnell does well at this meeting.

and are the standouts to these eyes in the novice chase (2.10), while the Irish may dominate the third (2.45) as well courtesy of and Flaming Moon.

The fourth leg (3.20) is about as tight as a five-runner race could get. The suggestions are , who seems to have taken really well to fences against much weaker opposition, and , who relishes quick ground and can be a force assuming he can jump.

It doesn't get any easier after that, but in the next (3.55) is well handicapped on his British form and has been shaping well since joining O'Connell, while is such a standing dish he's hard to leave out.

He's rated 10lb higher over fences, but was second in this race last year to a horse who went on to win the Grade 2 International Hurdle and will be forward enough to do himself justice.

In the last (4.30) should strip fitter for his recent return at Chepstow for Christian Williams and is a horse still at the right end of the handicap, while has run well fresh in the past and could still have more to offer as a chaser.
