Carlton Frankie should follow up at Nottingham

Nottingham
Carlton Frankie (5.25) looks a speedy filly and should be hard to catch again in the finale at Nottingham.

Mick Easterby’s three-year-old unsurprisingly found Listed company too hot on her debut last May, but she emerged from a summer break with a brave win at York in October and took another step forward at Redcar last month.

She has gone up 8lb despite winning by just a length, but she had a bit in hand and could easily end up a cut above this level in time.

Batten The Hatches comfortably won on his debut in February and looks the main threat.

Bahamian Sunrise: should again go well at Brighton
Bahamian Sunrise: should again go well at Brighton

Brighton
Bahamian Sunrise (3.00) likes this track and can win the 5f handicap. John Gallagher’s gelding has raced here four times, winning over course and distance in October and finishing second on three other visits including two weeks ago when caught close home over 6f. That run will have done him good and he will like dropping back in trip.

Yarmouth
Gothic Empire (4.30) couldn’t get competitive at Lingfield last month, but he should go well in this 7f handicap. The steady pace didn’t suit last time out, but that should have blown away any cobwebs and he was progressive last summer, recording an easy win over this course and distance in June and ending the campaign with arguably a career-best at Ascot. He can win off this 4lb higher mark if getting a strong pace to aim at.

Chelmsford
Five of the seven runners in the finale won last time out and Alabaster (9.10) may be the one to follow up. He lacked the necessary gears in his first two maidens over 1m but opened his account when stepped up to 1m3f at Kempton in February, showing a good attitude to get the better of Here And Now and Balashakh.
Sir Mark Prescott’s colt possesses plenty of stamina and is bred to be better than a handicapper.

Wolverhampton
Masterson (7.30) flopped over hurdles last time, but this sort of test is much more to his liking, as he showed when winning effortlessly at Chelmsford in April. Sent off at prohibitively short odds, he was always in front and won without being asked for maximum effort.
Mick Channon’s charge has a 4lb higher mark in slightly tougher company, but he is unbeaten on the sand and will again be hard to catch.
