The reappearance of unbeaten Ballydoyle colt Hit It A Bomb in the Desmond Stakes is the racing highlight of the final summer evening meeting at Leopardstown, which hosts a competitive card featuring a couple of betting opportunities.

Just seven turn out for the Longines Irish Champions Weekend Handicap (6.00) but that doesn't make it any less competitive. However, it does seem to offer a decent opportunity for top-weight Captain Power. A three-time winner last season, including over course and distance, he returned to his best in a similar handicap at Naas last week, when he just held on after idling in front. He was somewhat harshly disqualified, but the upshot is he gets only a 3lb penalty and he appears to have a very good chance.
