Camellia could prove better than current rating at Fairyhouse

It is foolish to read too much into trainers' comments. Most of them think all their geese are swans and, if you were to believe everything each one of them tells you, we would need hundreds of Group 1s every year.

But, even allowing for hyperbole, surely Camellia Japonica will prove herself to be more talented than her current mark of just 79 in the 6f three-year-old handicap at Fairyhouse (4.15).

After she snatched victory in a 6f maiden at the Curragh in June, trainer Joe Murphy said: “She's a ice filly and we've always thought a lot of her. She'll improve with age and has a bit of class.”
