Bumper payout for lucky 14 in Ascot Placepot

>>It was a difficult day for favourite backers at Ascot. Just one of the market leaders made the first three – Golden Doyen, who was third in the finale. But that meant a bumper payout for those who won the Placepot. With no winner shorter than 4-1, the payout came to a very healthy £7,215.20 to a £1 stake. There were 14 winning tickets.

>>Not a good result for in-running backers in the feature at Ascot, the Listed Noel Murless Stakes. The race went to Alyssa, who looked beat quite a few times up the straight as both Platitude and also Fireglow got to her quarters. The latter even took it up in the final furlong, but the 1,000 Guineas fourth, who was matched at a low of 1.15, just didn’t have the stamina to hold off to rallying Alyssa, who hit a whopping high of 690 at one stage.
