Magic Circle doesn't fit the bill for a Melbourne Cup winner. You normally want something with a low weight, middle-distance speed and a prep run in Australia. But, for all that, I still fancy him.

Yes, he will carry a bigger weight (56kg/8st 11lb) than nine of the last ten winners of the Cup but judging by his last two wins he could have the class to overcome it.
