Richard Woollacott’s gelding was beaten 37 lengths in last at Kempton on his return from a summer break last month, but that should be ignored as the 2m5f trip will have stretched his stamina and he was probably in need of his first outing in more than five months.

The six-year-old had previously recorded a career-best RPR when comfortably landing a 2m2½f handicap hurdle at Newton Abbot in May and appeared to be improving. There is every chance he can resume his progress now he has a recent run under his belt.
