Ayr Placepot tips: Graeme Rodway with his selections at the Scottish track

Just six line up for the first leg (1.45) of the Placepot at Ayr and two places makes it tricky. Put two into the perm with Shearer alongside Southwell winner Starlyte.

Another small field lines up for the 2m4½f novice hurdle (2.20) and two places are again on offer. Grey Skies and Thunder Rock should have it between them, so put both in.

Platinumcard is a short price in the 2m handicap hurdle (2.55) for a horse whose best form is all on the Flat. Take him on with in-form Since Day One and likely outsider Thereisnodoubt.

The 2m4½f handicap chase (3.30) is another two-place race. Paul Nicholls looks to have targeted this meeting and it’s worth including his Flic Ou Voyou as banker material.

Dan Skelton also has a strong team and his improving mare Get A Tonic finished runner-up to subsequent Cheltenham winner Marie’s Rock at Warwick in February before a good second at Doncaster last time. She is a banker in the 3m½f mares’ handicap hurdle (4.05).

The 2m½f novice handicap chase (4.40) doesn’t look easy and it’s another small field. Put prolific winner Lermoos Legend into the perm alongside consistent non-winner Dino Velvet.
