Ayr Placepot picks: Richard Birch with his perm for the jumps meeting

Two likely strong favourites in the first two races at Ayr are difficult to ignore for Placepot purposes.

Big Changes, a comfortable Sedgefield scorer last Sunday, stands out under a 7lb penalty in the conditional jockeys’ handicap chase (1.10).

The 153-rated chaser Sizing Pottsie, last seen in the Grade 3 Topham Handicap Chase at Aintree, can make the long trip from David Pipe’s Somerset stable worthwhile by outclassing his rivals in the novice hurdle (1.40).

Warriors Story, who starts the season on an attractive mark of 92 based on the subsequent exploits of Johnson’s Blue, the horse he thrashed at Newcastle, is of great interest in the novice handicap hurdle (2.10).

That’s Your Lottie, an eyecatcher from off the pace at Kelso last time, should also give a good account of herself.

Tfou, representing the red-hot Nicky Richards yard, looks a likely improver in the novice handicap chase (2.40), which also applies to Gandhi Maker.

Nells Son and are selected for the limited novice handicap chase (3.15), while The Questioner, second to subsequent Hereford scorer Barely Famous at Southwell, rates as banker material in the staying handicap hurdle (3.50).
