Ascot Placepot picks: Paul Kealy likes the look of a competitive Saturday card
Ascot looks a reasonable card for a Placepot as, while there are only seven in the opener (2.00), it looks a pretty weak heat and should go to .
He'll obviously take most of the pot with him, but we could do with a banker as it gets harder after that.
The next (2.35) is certainly a tougher novice, but showed plenty on her debut at Newmarket, while William Haggas doesn't waste his entries and has newcomer in the Rockfel and Fillies' Mile.
I'm highly tempted to bank on in leg three (3.10) as he could prove to be a cut above, but has shown promise and is ridden by a claimer who has had some success for Haggas, so he goes in too.
Leg four (3.45) is really hard, but is temptingly handicapped under a 7lb claimer, while last year's winner ran easily his best race of the season last time. Course winner makes it a three-horse leg.
It's hard to know what to make of favourite Sunrise Valley in the next (4.20) as she's beaten only weak rivals, and the temptation is to take her on in this better race.
managed to find trouble in a four-runner race at Pontefract last time, but she at least bounced back to form and her third to Creative Flair and Auria here in April makes her looks fairly treated.
She goes in with , who is progressive and will likely appreciate better ground than at Haydock last time.
Royal Scimitar ran poorly at Newmarket last week, so , whose finishing effort petered out over 7f last time, is the final selection back at 6f.
