Alisier D'Irlande and Footpad look banker material on classy card

Credit: Alan Crowhurst

A pair of competitive handicap hurdles bookend a Navan Pick Six in
which the central action is provided by four small-field conditions
events, featuring several leading names.

The opening leg (12.35) is problematic, with some sort of case to be
made for most of the ten runners. Last-time-out winners Carrigready, who has been raised 7lb for a Thurles win, and the JP McManus-owned Aa Bee See, successful in a Flat handicap at Fairyhouse, are perhaps the the most obvious inclusions.

Icantsay is interesting off a mark much lower than his chase rating, and the veteran Archie Meade is a more speculative choice following a satisfactory Thurles run.

The For Auction Hurdle (1.10) could boil down to a duel between the
very experienced Morgan, one of two runners for Gordon Elliott, and
Stratum, a former John Gosden-trained handicapper who got off the mark over hurdles at the first attempt at Galway in September.

Apple's Jade should make a winning reappearance for Elliott in the Lismullen Hurdle (1.40), but Jer's Girl, who is receiving 7lb, has race-fitness to help her cause and is worth including for insurance purposes.

Alisier D'Irlande looks banker-material in the Fortria Chase (2.10)
and likewise high-class hurdler Footpad on his chasing debut in a
beginners event (2.45).
