A certain top jumps trainer could well be set for a big summer on the Flat

Jim Bolger stole the show at the Curragh with his 1-2 in the Irish 2,000 Guineas. The Cazoo Derby now has at least five main contenders and certainly isn’t the cakewalk for Bolshoi Ballet that many were making it out to be a few weeks ago.

I’m not entirely convinced Mac Swiney will stay the 1m4f but it’s far from a long shot and he has a very similar profile to another son of New Approach, Masar, who won at Epsom in 2018.

As for the Irish 1,000 Guineas, Empress Josephine did incredibly well to win as the race was run at a crawl and she came from a long way back.
