The European yearling sales season rolls into Doncaster today as the two-day Goffs UK Premier Sale gets underway. Just shy of 500 lots will come under the hammer at the auction which has become synonymous with producing precocious and speedy sorts.

Last year's graduates have already left their mark on the 2016 turf season, with a roll of honour which includes impressive Prix Robert Papin winner Tis Marvellous, Norfolk Stakes victor Prince Of Lir and recent Listed scorers Big Time Baby and Miss Infinity, all of whom were snapped up for comfortably less than six-figure sums.

Past graduates have also gone on to make their presence felt beyond their juvenile campaigns in some of the world's biggest races, with the four-year-olds Limato, a £41,000 purchase from the 2014 renewal, running out a comfortable winner of the July Cup and Peniaphobia, a £20,000 acquisition from the 2012 sale, landing the Group 1 Hong Kong Sprint highlighting that the sale isn't simply a source of two-year-old speed.
