Winning point-to-pointer Rock On Rio tops Ascot July Sale
Four-year-old son of Captain Rio was bought by Andrew McNamara for £75,000
The Tattersalls Ireland Ascot July Sale attracted a host of big-name buyers on Tuesday and was duly rewarded with a strong day of trade, with rookie trainer Andrew McNamara signing for the top lot Rock On Rio at £75,000
"It's nice to get him," said McNamara. "He's by Captain Rio so it's impressive that he managed to win a point-to-point, being by such a quick sire.
"He's for an owner who's happy to kick on and have a horse for a bumper, he should be sharp enough and ready to go and hopefully he'll be winning before too long. Jamie Codd and Denis Murphy both recommended him and they're lads with plenty of experience."
